Review-Sony Playstation Vita (PS Vita): The Best in Handheld Gaming?
Conclusions
- All in all, the PS Vita is a wonderful portable console that will provide you with plenty of entertainment on the go.
Our patience has paid off. The Playstation Vita manages to fulfill almost all of our expectations, particularly regarding its gaming functionality, where it really shines. Sony’s claims appear to be (mostly) true. With its super-sharp AMOLED screen, graphics quality that rivals that of today’s current living room consoles, dual analog sticks, and touchscreen input, PS Vita takes mobile gaming to the next level.
Even better, there’s more to PS Vita than just games. The integrated social networking functionalities allow gamers to keep up with their online social life and play together with friends. Multi-tasking capability makes switching between applications a breeze, and the battery life is simply superb for a powerful console that slips easily into your jeans pocket.
So, what’s not to like about the console? Honestly, we think PS Vita could’ve been better in its camera department. A better picture-taking tool would surely transform it into a perfect multimedia gadget. The browser is also a bit lacking in features, but this particular issue could possibly be resolved through future firmware upgrades. Aside from that, the “sync with PS3” functionality could have been tweaked to provide some additional functionalities other than file transfers. We would also like to see a video-out connector, should we fancy playing the games on a bigger screen.
Overall, we have to admit that Sony’s Playstation Vita is indeed the best handheld console available today. It brings forth some new features that would undoubtedly enrich your gaming experience. The console isn’t perfect, but with what’s already in it, PS vita is truly a worthy companion for gamers on the go.
